PML-N senator says March 23 holds key role in independence

Sardar Nasir stresses need to celebrate such days to acknowledge efforts of the country's great leaders

QUETTA: PML-N, Balochistan Chapter, Senior Deputy President Senator Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir on Tuesday said that March 23 holds a key role in the independence of Pakistan.

“A resolution was envisioned and passed by the forefathers of Pakistan, led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah himself, the dream of Pakistan perceived by Allama Muhammad Iqbal was transformed into a resolution on March 23, 1940, and after seven years of restless efforts, our dear country came into existence due to the hard work of our great leaders,” said Senator Nasir in an interview.

He said, “In order to remember our history and acknowledge the efforts of our great leaders, it is of utmost importance that such historical days be celebrated.”

He said that patriotic youth of Balochistan will be celebrating Pakistan Day enthusiastically this time also across whole province.

He said, "Business and investment activities in the province are getting a boost under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, sports grounds are being revived while peace is being restored in the province.”

He said that cowardly acts of terrorists were showing their frustration as they could not see Balochistan as a flourished and prosperous province.

Paying rich tributes to martyred security officers in recent terrorist attacks in the province, he said the police personnel and other security officials were endangering their lives to ensure safety of citizens.

He said, “Pakistan is a country with diverse cultural heritage, where people of different sects, ethnic groups and casts are living together under one flag.”

He said terrorists were taking their last breath in Pakistan as the whole “country is now united in this ongoing war against terrorism and extremism”.

He said the incumbent government was taking all possible steps for sustainable socioeconomic development of Balochistan and its people.
