World Water Day: Preserve nature to solve water issues
IUCN had join hands with different organisations to commemorate the day
With development constantly threatening the delicate environmental balance, it was also threatening key resources such as water.
This was stated by UNESCO Director Vibeke Jensen at an event to celebrate World Water Day.
IUCN had joined hands with the PCRWR, UNESCO, ICIMOD, ICARDA, ECOSF, CCRD and Riphah International University to commemorate the day. The theme of which for this year was ‘Nature for Water’ to explore a nature-based solution for various water challenges including floods and droughts.
Sindh determined to resolve contaminated water issue
A Poster Competition among university students was also organized. The event was held in PCRWR premises and was well attended by representatives of various institutions and University students.
Jensen remarked that resolution the issues faced by the world lies in the preservation of nature which is degraded by enhanced anthropogenic activities.
