But after recent attack in Raiwand claiming that Pakistan is completely ‘safe’ would be a rather sweeping statement

LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League’s third edition is all set to start its playoffs in Lahore today, March 20th. While the whole country is excited to see the matches being played, some watching it live at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, this year too, quite a few international cricketers have refused to travel to Pakistan to play the matches in their subsequent teams.

This is disappointing for fans who had been waiting eagerly to see their favourite cricket stars play in their home country. What is worse is that we cannot even point fingers at the Pakistan Cricket Board or these cricketers for refusing to play in Pakistan, because the security situation in the country is still unstable. This is not to say that it stands where it did few years ago because military operations have indeed helped in reducing terrorist attacks in the country. But after the recent attack in Raiwand claiming that Pakistan is completely ‘safe’ would be a rather sweeping statement.

As a result, this refusal should put pressure on our government to do better to make Pakistan safe again.
