Fire claims lives of four family members in Lahore

Police says initial investigations suggest that the fire broke out because of a short circuit

At least four family members including a husband, wife and their two children were burnt to death after their house caught fire in WAPDA Town on Saturday, Express News reported.

Rescue forces and firefighters reached the spot to extinguish the fire out before transporting the dead bodies for post-mortem.

The deceased were identified as Sarfaraz, his wife Saba and their children Amna and Shiraz.

“Sarfaraz was unemployed and was staying in a servant quarter with his family,” said the Police.

The owner of the house told Express News that they did not know when and how the room caught fire.

“Our neighbours informed us that the room on our roof has caught fire,” he added.

SP Saddar Town Adil Memon also reached the spot after being informed about the incident.

“Forensic teams have collected evidence,” he stated.

“Initial investigations suggest that the fire broke out because of a short circuit.”

Memon further added: “The real cause of the fire can only be ascertained after the forensic and post-mortem reports.”
