Former Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema’s wife has come under the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s magnifying glass.

Cheema had been nabbed in Ashiyana Iqbal Corruption Scheme by the country's top-graft buster. There has been an important development in the case, Express News reported. NAB Lahore has instigated inquiry against the former DG LDA's wife Saima Cheema.

According to sources, Saima is a government officer, and NAB has decided to summon details of her assets.

Ahad Cheema 'gifted' 32 kanals to relatives, says prosecutor

During interrogation with Ahad, evidences clued big properties and assets placed under Saima's name. The NAB decided to investigate Saima regarding the matter. Ahad’s brother-in-law Mansoor, sister-in-law Nadia, sister Sadia and wife reached the NAB office for interrogation in the Ashiyana case.

Meanwhile, NAB approved another very important case after which their Lahore faction summoned DG Anti-Corruption next week. According to NAB sources, DG Anti-Corruption Muzaffar Ali Ranjha has been summoned over misusing his authorities.

Earlier this month, Ahad was suspected of allotting 32 kanals of land to relatives. NAB’s prosecutor Waris Ali Janjua told a Lahore accountability court on Monday that the Punjab government had established a land development company ostensibly to provide the underprivileged with housing.

“The former DG allotted 32 kanals of land to relatives,” the prosecutor stated. “The land costs about Rs30.9 million against which Rs2.5 million was paid to Bismillah Engineering Services proprietor Shahid Shafiq Cheema’s account while the balance was paid from the account of Paragon.”
