KARACHI: In the wake of opposition-backed Sadiq Sanjrani and Saleem Mandviwalla winning the top slots in the Senate elections, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) deemed their loss political maneuvering by the opposition.

"You think you have won this game of chess but you will face the worst defeat soon,"PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz called out the opposition.

"Imran Khan has always lambasted Asif Zardari but when he came to your door, you joined hands with him," she added.

Maryam said that the opposition must stand before the public as after today their true face has been unmasked.

While Information Minister Maryum Aurangzeb said that undemocratic elements rigged the Senate elections and engaged in corruption.

She claimed that the real face of the opposition parties had been unmasked, adding that today Bhutto has truly been martyred.

Aurangzeb said that lawmakers who were actually pawns of their political masters had come to the fray.

The same people who were dancing in 2014 have once again come forward.

While PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said that cheap tactics were at play during the Senate elections.

"Our party lost today because our party wants to foster democracy in the country," he added.

We never begged anyone for votes as we stand for our principles and not political maneuvering.

"Imran's slogan of change and Zardari's disease have now reached Bani Gala," he added.

"It seems like Sadiq Sanjrani was not elected but inducted," he quipped.
