LAHORE: Lately, hurling shoes at politicians has become a major expression of the public’s discontent towards the system and the rule of those in power. Although the act has been made use of by the masses all over the world, apparently, Pakistanis are beginning to use it more frequently as evident by the past three incidents which occurred in a short period of two days, when the former PM, current FM and a party head shared similar experiences of embarrassment during their public addresses.
Done out of frustration or often at the behest of someone else, throwing a shoe, ink or any other item is certainly demeaning and an inhuman act. Hence, anyone holding moral conscience would never stoop down to a level as low as hitting someone with a shoe, as there are more appropriate ways to express anger.
