Formula One: No ban on DRS for Monaco

BERLIN: After having considered the safety concerns expressed by drivers, the FIA has decided against banning the Drag Reduction System (DRS) for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Teams and drivers have been constantly debating whether using the DRS would raise safety concerns.

Those against the DRS pointed out the risks of attempting the tunnel section at Monaco with an open wing, while the other teams highlighted the costs of developing a rear wing specifically for Monaco.

Meanwhile, the race in Monaco will plumb new depths with the chequered flag to be dropped at sea and recovered as part of a charity diving event before the race.

Organisers said that the flag would be signed by all the racing drivers.
