The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed various food processing plants while taking action against substandard food manufacturers and adulterers on Sunday.
The food safety teams, headed by the deputy director, conducted raids and sealed several nimko factories, a Zam Zam water filtration plant, a pickle factory and many hotels for using low quality food products and for having insufficient cleanliness and hygiene.
The teams also imposed fines totalling Rs43,000 and wasted 1,500kg of substandard pickle.
The authority warned shopkeepers and manufacturers against using low quality items in making food products.
