JHELUM: The Punjab government has banned dancing at various school events.

According to details, the Punjab government has imposed this ban throughout the province, binding both government and private educational institutions in the province, to observe the ban.

“During special occasions, such as competitions, parents day, teachers day and even orations there was a custom of students dancing on Pakistani and Indian songs, read a notification, adding that according to government rules, dancing has been banned regardless of the occasion.

The Punjab government said that public dancing was an immoral act which strays away from religious norms. Hence, schools forcing students to participate in dances or any other ‘immoral activities’ that are deemed irreligious would have their licenses revoked.

Deputy District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to ensure that these rules are enforced in their respective areas. The notice warned that those found violating the ban including teachers, and heads of the institutions, will face action.

Mash’allah.. now Punjab government will define religious norms ?! (perhaps in hand with mulla) grow up lads.. and let small children have some innocent cultural activities. Dance (particularly ludi, bhangra and other native dance) should be made compulsory part of curriculaRecommend
