A college girl was stabbed to death by her alleged husband in an Indian state on Friday. The man claimed that the student was his wife while her family denied the claim.

Ashwini Mohan was a second year B-Com student in Meenakshi College, Chennai.

The victim, 20-year-old girl, was walking on the road near the college when Alagesan, 20, stopped her and started an argument with her. During the heated disagreement, he pulled out a knife and stabbed on her chest and stomach.

He left her and ran away while the locals stopped the man and thrashed him before the police arrested the assaulter.

The girl was rushed to the nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The KK Nagar police have registered a murder case against Alagesan.
