'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' sequel reportedly in the works

It's claimed that the cast will be reuniting in the second installment

Film-maker Zoya Akhtar is currently filming for Gully Boy with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. The film revolves around the underground music industry of Mumbai where Ranveer will be essaying the role of a rapper.

Insiders revealed that after the completion of Gully Boy, Zoya will be working on a sequel for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, reported Filmfare. It is also claimed that the next installment will feature the same leads - Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.

“Zoya feels that the audience would be keen to know what the characters are up to in today’s time. The sequel will retain all the characters and the story will take a 10-year leap," claimed a source close to the film-maker.

When questioned on when the film is set to go on floors, the insider explained that it is still to early to talk about it. He added, "The basic premise has been locked, Zoya will start working on the screenplay by end of this year once the final cut of Gully Boy is ready." The source further mentioned that if everything goes according to the plan, filming will begin in the second half of 2019.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was released eight years ago and was lauded by audiences. The coming-of-age film followed the story of three childhood friends who go on a journey together to rediscover themselves. It also touches up subjects that everyone can relate to such as love, relationships, friendships, career, priorities and many other aspects of life.
