This was stated during a ceremony on Thursday at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) to mark World Kidney Day. SIUT organised day-long public awareness programmes at its main premises in Karachi and two other venues in Kathore and Sukkur.

According to experts, chronic kidney diseases are more likely to develop in women compared to men with an average 14% prevalence in women and 12% in men. The prevalence of such diseases is rising and they may affect approximately three million women in their childbearing years.
