After reviewing the application filed on February 26 by Advocate Makhdoom Niaz Inqilabi, the Islamabad High Court admitted the petition.

The application stated that the former prime minister humiliated the judiciary in a speech delivered in Lahore on August 25, 2017.
'Sharif’s allegation that the judiciary was supportive of the ‘powerful forces’ of the country amounts to contempt of the court' the application read.

The court has decided to conduct the hearing of contempt case against former prime minister. In addition to summoning of notices, the court has also asked Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA), Press Council and Information Secretary to submit detailed explanations by April 19.
