Rigging allegations

Published: March 8, 2018

KARACHI: Though political parties accuse one another of rigging after every by-poll or general election, the recently held Senate elections have been tainted with accusations of horse-trading.

Days after the recent Senate elections, political parties in the country have come forward with their demands for probe into the matter. Though the Election Commission of Pakistan has denied any such allegations, it is important that proper mechanisms to track down any possible incidence of rigging or horse-trading are developed beforehand, that is, prior to the exercise of elections to any of the legislative bodies.
