KARACHI: The employees of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) went on a two-hour token strike on Monday.

The doctors, however, were present at the emergency and accident departments in the morning.

Still, some patients were disturbed as they had come from far off areas.

The joint action committee of the JPMC said that they will continue with the strike till Wednesday.

“We expect the minister, as well as the authorities, to announce the autonomous status of the JPMC as well as the National Institute of Child Health and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases,” said Dr Mohammad Usman of the committee.
