RAWALPINDI:

A local court on Monday sought reply from Punjab deputy law officer on a petition filed by a lady doctor seeking the recovery of her son from the alleged custody of Chakwal police. She told the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench that her son was being kept in illegal detention.

Justice Saghir Ahmed Qadri directed the Punjab’s assistant advocate general to inform the court on May 11 about the status of Ali Imran.

Citing provincial home secretary, Inspector General of Police, Chakwal’s District Police Officer and Neela’s Station House Officer as respondents, Dr Sadia Haroon through her lawyer Shaukat Aziz Siddiq prayed the court to get her son released.

Imran, a student of BS electronic at International Islamic University, left home on May 2 for the university but did not return.

On May 5 the family came to know through media about the arrest of Imran along with two other men by Neela police in Chakwal. They were arrested for their alleged involvement in the attack on Nato oil tankers, the petitioner said.

The petitioner said her son had attended prestigious schools in Islamabad and had never been involved in any criminal activity.

She, however, added that if he was involved in any criminal activity he should have been produced before the court of law for prosecution.
