RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the provision of civic facilities and peaceful environment in less-developed areas of Balochistan is a dream coming true.

“People of Balochistan and Turbat have right to facilities like in rest of provinces. The Khushal Balochistan programme is aimed at fulfilling this right,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) quoted the COAS as saying on Monday.

The COAS was speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day Makran Festival 2018 at Kech Stadium, Turbat late on Sunday.

Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa and Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Balochistan (South), Major General Tariq Aman, were also present.

A large number of local residents attended the ceremony as well.

The COAS, who is on a two-day visit to Balochistan, spent the night in Turbat.

He said, “Presence of such a large gathering at this festival is testimony of the fact that Balochistan is moving towards peace and prosperity, which is the future of Pakistan's progress as well.”

At the end of the ceremony, fireworks were also held which added colour to the festive mood of spectators.

Earlier in the evening, the COAS interacted with local elders of Turbat at Headquarters Frontier Corps Balochistan (South).
