Three-day Makran sports, cultural festival kicks off

The three-day Makran Festival 2018 kicked off on Friday, with an opening ceremony held at Kech stadium in Turbat, Balochistan.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa was the chief guest on the occasion, a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The event was organised in connection with Baloch cultural day in order to promote rich Baloch heritage.

While speaking on the occasion, the military's media wing added, Lt Gen Bajwa said the overwhelming turn out of people at the stadium is [a] testimony of zeal and enthusiasm of the people of Balochistan towards Pakistan.

Development projects, he added, under Khushal Balochistan Programme for Makran division are carefully designed to cater to the needs of the people which will be inaugurated shortly.

Commander Southern Command also wished all Balochs on the occasion of Baloch cultural day.

Earlier, the communique added, march in by players of various sports being played during the three-day gala was the highlight of the opening ceremony.

Different games of festivities including display of live stock was also appreciated by the audience.

Lt Gen Bajwa and local notables distributed prizes among winners of different games, live stock competition. During the course of ceremony, 118 laptops were also distributed among deserving students of the region.
