G-B hospitals: Gilgit hospital to be upgraded
CM announces allowances for doctors, paramedics .

In view of growing population and related health issues, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Mehdi Shah announced the upgradation of District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Gilgit on Friday, besides announcing facilities for doctors and other staff.
During a visit to the hospital, the chief minister announced that the hospital will be upgraded to 400 beds from the existing 200 beds. He also announced the setting up of a cardiac unit in the hospital, which is the biggest health facility in the region.
The chief minister also visited various sections and wards of the hospital where patients complained about lack of facilities in the hospital. Taking note of the complaints, Shah directed the hospital administration to serve the people with professional commitment or be prepared to face the consequences.
The CM asks the hospital administration and the doctors to put their house in order.
Shah also took note of the water supply and sewerage systems in the hospital, assuring the administration that he would ensure an increase in the allocation for health in the forthcoming budget.
He also announced special allowance for doctors and medical staff installation of new CT scan machines in DHQ hospitals in Chilas, Skardu and Gilgit.
