Computers and taxes: New system allows instant refunds

SIALKOT: The Sales Tax Department has introduced an Expeditious Refund System (ERS) through which tax payers can not only file their sales tax refund claims from their own office but also get their refunds processed through an automated system.

Locals in the area appreciated the new measures and said that these would allow them to process their taxes instantly.

According to the Sales Tax Department, the overall work provides for issuance of refund cheques to tax payers within 72 hours of the claim being uploaded on the system software.

“It is about time we had a computerised system as this is also convenient for the people and the department,” said ERS officer Haroon Khan.
