Work on Quetta Safe City project in full swing

Minister says government is striving to fulfil its responsibility

QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Information Technology Prince Ahmed Ali has said that it is the responsibility of the Balochistan government to protect the lives and properties of its people.

“The government is striving to fulfil its responsibility,” the minister said while referring to the Quetta Safe City Project during a briefing at the Central Police Office on Sunday.

Provincial IT Secretary Dr Aftab Baloch, Additional Inspector General of Police Chaudhry Manzoor Sarwar, Quetta Special Police Officer Abdul Razzak Cheema and others were present on the occasion.

“The provincial government is playing its due role in maintaining law and order on the specific orders of Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo,” he said. “Bizenjo is taking keen interest in the Quetta Safe City project to complete it in the least amount of time possible,” he added.

He said many steps were being taken on the instructions of CM Bizenjo for the welfare of the people of the province and its development.

Safe city project: Rs1b earmarked for Quetta security

On the occasion, Balochiostan Inspector General of Police Muazzam Jha Ansari and Quetta Safe City Project Director DIG Akbar Nasir briefed the provincial minister on the details of the project.

The minister was briefed on the current schemes devised to maintain peace, manage traffic as well as handle any untoward situation.

A survey of the locations where 1,400 Closed Circuit Television cameras would be installed was also conducted. The CCTV cameras would be installed on every nook and corner of the city. Once installed, they would help reduce crime in the city.

Call for keeping Quetta clean

It was also said during the briefing that CCTV cameras would be installed at six entry and exit points of Quetta.

It is pertinent to mention that no steps were taken for the completion of the Quetta Safe City project for quite some time.

Since taking over as the chief minister on January 13, Bizenjo has been working day and night for the betterment of the province. On his directions, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and other concerned government officials of all the cities of the province were holding weekly open courts.
