Drone strikes: PTI vows second blockage of NATO supplies

PTI announces second protest blockage of NATO supplies on May 21 and 22 in Karachi.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) has announced a second protest blockage of NATO supplies by staging a two-day sit-in on May 21 and 22 in Karachi. Oil is supplied to NATO forces in Afghanistan from Karachi through tankers.

Imran Khan, who is in Islamabad, has also confirmed the dates for the blockade.

The sit-in is being organised to protest against US drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal areas. A US drone strike in North Waziristan killed at least 15 persons and injured four others on Friday, prompting the protest.

The announcement was made at a rally organised by Imran Khan's party at Regal Chowk in Karachi. PTI chairman Imran Khan will be leading the Karachi sit-in.

During the PTI's first successful blockage of NATO supplies in Peshawar, Khan had vowed that if drone strikes continued inside Pakistan, protesters would block all NATO supply routes across Pakistan.

The participants of Sunday's rally protested against drone strikes, inflation and corruption in the country.

Hamza Ali Khan | 13 years ago | Reply Lol Imran Khan and his delusions. Maybe Imran Khan does not know that when blocking NATO supplies, he is being used as a tool by the agencies to spur trouble. He should address the even MORE demanding issues like that of education and health, rather than mixing in ranks with the likes of 'not-so-long-ago pro-American Jamaat-e-Islami.' Doing populist politics while harnessing the voices of the same bearded minds which have plunged us all into misery will not help him or us. All the gathering in Peshawar was what one would call as pro-Taliban, and it will be the same in Karachi, nothing different. Shouting slogans, and slandering America is not going to help anyone. If we have to help ourselves, we really have to take things in our hand by first building Paki land so that we become self-sustaining, as in not dependent on American dollars. In Khan's previous rally, Sipah-sahaba's flag was eminent; if those are the alliances which Imran Khan has, then God save us all. And in the same rally IK was talking about Shia-Sunni unity. Talk about contradictions.

People like you will never understand logic you have a convulated mind which likes to put others down because they couldnt do anything with their lives. Their is a Civil goverment which claims it is incharge of the Army and ISI, then why should Imran Protest against the army. The Civilian Goverment should resign saying that the army is not letting them do anything than Imran will protest against the army till that time he has all the right to protest against the civilian goverment. If you heard him say that he met the ISI then you should have also heard as to why he met him, dont relay half the story only. He is the only honest and competent leader who when comes to power will serve cowards like you as well who have in actuality made this country into the slave it is.

Show me any other leader that has any chance to improve the country's current political scenario, There's only one man, One educated and one Honest, a dedicated leader, Who shows no fear to the Super power, UNITED STATES, He went to United states, and told them on their face what their government is doing to the world and pakistani people, There was only one man before him who had the courage to speak and tell the truth on his enemies face, that was Bhutto, and after all the propaganda, that the united states comes up with about ISI and our military, Do you think what US is doing in afghanistan and helping india to do suspicious stuff from afghanistan in balochistan, United states is fully aware of the situation, but they tend to ignore it, It's our people ignorance that we can't see the true face of united states, whose 'so called' war against terror is a war against muslims. and I don't expect ISI and our military to help them get any terrorist, since they are already killing innocent people in Drone Attacks and helping our enemies to use our soil against us. PTI will never do dharna infront of GHQ and Aabpara because it would then defy its own secret backers in uniform! In the 1990's, Imran was busy winning the World Cup for us and collecting funds for the building of a world class cancer hospital (which treats people of all races, class and ethnicity equally). We are all suffering from it as a resuly. and if I may add, if they want me to take them seriously, they should do a blockade on Durand Line to stop Taliban and AlQaeda from killing innocent Pakistanis and Afghans on both sides. After 35,000 dead Pakistanis as a direct result of TTP/AlQaeda suicide attacks since 2004 (compared to 2000 or so mostly dead Talibs/AQ boys in drone attacks), the deluded PTI still cannot get their priorities right!!!
