Lahore's GCU collaborates with University of Tehran

Varsities sign MoU for academic and research cooperation in Urdu Literature

LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Tehran for academic and research cooperation in Urdu Literature.

Vice Chancellor Prof Hassan Shah said higher education and research had become highly advanced and multidisciplinary. He added that GCU was actively strengthening academic ties with foreign and national universities for research collaborations, training faculty members and exchanging postgraduates.

According the accord, both institutions agreed to launch research support programs whereby they would exchange and host PhD and MPhil students from the other university and provide them with necessary training and support. The universities have also agreed to exchange faculty members for short periods.

On a separate note, a ghazal and folk night was held at a hostel at GCU. The singers and musicians from the Nazir Ahmed Music Society (NAMS) enthralled audiences with their famous Urdu ghazals and folk music.
