PSL Opening Ceremony 2018: Najam Sethi makes a firm appeal to Pakistanis

The first match of PSL is set to be played between Peshawar Zalmi and new entrants, Multan Sultans

DUBAI:
The PSL opening ceremony is in full swing with live performances rocking Dubai - courtesy of music titans such as Abida Parveen, Ali Zafar and Jason Derulo.

Amid all the frenzy Najam Sethi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board made it a point to address the mammoth crowd.

He made a firm appeal to Pakistanis, urging them to own the tournament as their own and steer clear of groupism. He said this tournament/league belonged to every political party, every ethnicity, every province and every group in Pakistan - regardless of cast and creed. He announced, what everyone already knew, that the final would be played in Karachi.

The first match of PSL is set to be played between last year’s champions Peshawar Zalmi and the new entrant to the competition, Multan Sultans. Zalmi, captained by Darren Sammy and Sultans' captained by Shoaib Malik, are to begin the third year of PSL with their teams.

Peshawar Zalmi is owned by Javed Afridi and its brand ambassadors are Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi who are set to make appearances at their matches, as are Multan Sultans’ brand ambassadors, Ahsan Khan and actress Momal Sheikh.
