Formula One: Ricciardo lined up for Toro Rosso race

Australian Daniel Ricciardo may race with Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso next season.

ISTANBUL: Australian Daniel Ricciardo is being lined up for a race seat with Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso next season, according to Formula One team’s principal Franz Tost.

“He should learn the team, all the race tracks, to work together with the engineers, get a little bit of knowledge about the press work, about the marketing and this should be the preparation for him to race for Toro Rosso in 2012,” he told reporters. Toro Rosso’s race drivers are Switzerland’s Sebastien Buemi and Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari.

Red Bull’s world champion Sebastian Vettel raced for Toro Rosso in 2007 and 2008, taking his first race win with them at Monza in 2008.
