FO lodges protest against India's ceasefire violations along LoC

Indian occupation forces killed an eight-year-old boy in the Khuiratta Sector on Monday

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned by the Foreign Office on Tuesday to condemn the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) which took place on February 19.

Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal condemned the ceasefire violation by the Indian forces in the Khuiratta Sector of Jijot Bahadar village, which claimed the life of an eight-year-old boy Ayan Zahid.



“Indian brutality takes life of an eight-year-old boy Ayan of Jajot village along LOC,” the military’s media wing tweeted on Monday that the young boy was martyred by Indian troops.

India continues to engage in ceasefire violations, despite calls for restraint. In 2018, the Indian forces have already carried out more than 335 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary. In 2017, more than 1,970 ceasefire violations were committed.

“The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas, especially children is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights, and humanitarian laws,” Dr Faisal pleaded.



On February 15, Indian troops deliberately targeted a school van, killing the driver and leaving the children severely traumatised. "These violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security," Dr Faisal noted.

Dr Faisal further urged the Indian troops to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement. He has asked the Indian side to investigate this and similar incidents and maintain peace along the LoC and the Working Boundary. He added the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
