Abbottabad operation: Gilani to take parliament into confidence on May 9

Prime minister meets president and army chief in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani will take the Parliament into confidence on May 9 over the US operation against Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister House on Saturday, the decision was taken following a meeting between the Prime Minister, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency in Islamabad.

According to sources, policies to protect the sovereignty of the country came under discussion during the meeting. The prime minister has also consulted the defence minister and the foreign secretary over the Abbottabad operation.

Gilani has earlier said that the United States should not have “bypassed” Pakistan on the Abbottabad raid. Bin Laden’s death in a US special forces’ unilateral assault on Sunday has been criticised officially and by opposition parties as an “infringement” on Pakistan’s sovereignty, with a warning to the US from civil and military leaders that the repeat of such a raid would spell “catastrophe”.

Because in Pakistan are here you have to live with this incompetent govt and military. No escape. You want to go to Canada or like to apply for India citizenship? My dear, Was elimination of OBL a bigger blow then the event of 9/11 that too in the heart of sole super power. Did any US citizen said that they do not have confidence or faith on US Govt, CIA or US Military? I do not know why you people behave like ignorant illiterates.

On May 2,2011 the Americans invaded Pakistan. It was as deceptive as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that came without warning and like them we were caught with our pants down. You had gone to Paris - by the way what is it with you and Zardari that whenever we have a crisis you and him go to France and Gunnjah Sharif goes to London for some medical reason - to make ridiculous statements to the French and the world Press. You have lost Pakistan's reputation. It was bad enough and the pygmies in power have lost that too.

They make a lot of noise and wear their fancy uniforms but they are just as useless as the politicians. Looks like finally the dollars will stop flowing in. It can only be good for Pakistan.

We have limited resources and Pak Armed Force, at best, can fight back any Indian Aggression. Once resources are less so then we prioritize. PAF has limited Radars and most look towards eastern border inside India. Few were deployed towards West, there were gaps in coverage and that is how US Black Hawks evaded them. If you want to cover complete Pakistan from all side then PAF needs more Radars. Do you like to spend more on defence budget for buying more radars ? Be rest assured there is no GAP towards Indian side. And if Indians have doubt, they can always test timely response of our Armed Forces.

The actual power in the country is army and they should be brought before the congress and interrogated like any other civilized democracy. Unless the main characters are brought before the elected congress (MNA and Senators) it would only be a useless exercise. It must be disclosed how much Pakistani and US money is spent on the army and what are the results, except surrender in East Pakistan, Kargil, and all intelligence failures. What are we getting over our investment in the army? The total amount of money that is spent on the army vs education, and healthcare. While the US army provided their president videos of the direct action and all operations, Pakistani army feeds our elected govt lots of BS. Why should there be any demand of repeated failure and protection of OBL, which was going on for 5 years? Why are army supporters diverting the blame to bloody civilians?

The bottom line is the recent US Navy SEALs operation in Abbottabad has clearly shown to every Pakistani where exactly Pakistan was standing on the early morning of May 02, 2011. Do you and the President and other responsible people protecting the borders of the country would step down and accept the responsibility of making Pakistanis fool. Where do we stand in the world today? A totally failed state which need complete overhaul right from top to bottom.
