Media Seminar: ‘Journalists need to realise their responsibilities’

Media had the right to report without approval from government: speakers.

The Department of Mass Communication Management, Superior Group of Colleges, on Friday held a seminar at its Raiwind Road campus titled 21st Century Media: New Frontiers, New Barriers to mark the World Press Freedom Day.

Prof Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, the Superior Group of Colleges chairman, presided over the seminar. Sajjad Mir; Prof Mugheesuddin Sheikh, the Department of Mass Communication dean; Prof Ataur Rehman, the Department of Mass Communication chairman; and journalist Sohail Warraich were prominent among speakers.


The speakers said that in a democracy, media had the right to report without approval from the government.

They said many countries provided legal protection to journalists.

They said in a free society, a journalists were expected to report accurately and without bias.

MAS | 12 years ago | Reply There is no media in Pakistan; only some robber barons and their filthy devious reporters, always looking for some illegal and mean favors as they don’t get any salary. They have no standards or ethical norms. They are worst than Afghanistan.
