Technology Transfer: Farmers can make rose perfumes

FAISALABAD: The Business Incubation Centre at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Agrow Private Limited signed an accord on Friday for transferring technology to farmers which will enable them to produce alcohol-free perfumes and other products from roses.

According to experts, a farmer can earn Rs0.2 million per acre from pearls, but perfume production from roses can result in earnings of Rs1.2 million per acre.

According to UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Khan, experts at the university had developed species of roses after eight years of research, which can be produced throughout the year and one plant can produce approximately 700 roses.
