New projects over incomplete ones

Letter February 14, 2018
the government must not make bad decisions and first complete the projects that are in limbo

LAHORE: A news report in this paper states the government’s approval for 24 developmental schemes worth Rs185 billion. The approval comes off as a shocking development since many of the schemes that the current government initiated at the start of its tenure are still pending owing to a lack of funding and poor planning. As the government’s budget is overshooting, the approval for new schemes is an instance of bad governance where the authorities are more focused on adding up to the numbers of projects it has started without giving any thought to the completion of those already under process.

As the list of incomplete projects, some of which are devastatingly big enough to be left incomplete, keeps growing, the government must not make bad decisions and first complete the projects that are in limbo owing to budgetary constraints and discrepancies.
