KARACHI:
The main accused in the fake degree scandal, Axact Chief Executive Officer Shoaib Sheikh appeared in the District South additional district and sessions judge court, accompanied by his wife.

At the beginning of the hearing, Sheikh showed his reservations over the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) lawyer, saying that a private lawyer cannot argue a legal case for a government-backed entity and that only FIA's prosecutor should be arguing the case for the agency.

Sheikh requested the court for more time so he could provide the Supreme Court's instructions regarding this. The FIA counselor replied that he has been given complete authority to argue the case for the government agency and it was on record. The Axact CEO verbally requested the court to exempt his wife from appearing in court.

The court denied his request and ordered the accused to produce his witnesses at the next hearing which is scheduled for February 19.
