Protest turns ugly: Sunni Tehreek activists arrested

JACOBABAD: Police arrested six activists of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) for forcefully entering and vandalising the District Coordination Officer’s (DCO) office on Thursday. According to ST leaders, activists were staging a peaceful demonstation against the alleged corruption of the Thal Town Municipal Officer (TMO) and District Officer Coordination outside the DCO’s office, when they were attacked by the police and the TMO’s private guards. Three activists were injured in the melee, while police arrested six activists. ST provincial convenor Maulana Noor Ahmed Qasmi, has threatened to hold demonstration across Sindh on Friday if the arrested activists are not released immediately.
