Integrity Idol: Bahawalpur commissioner crowned as most upstanding

Saqib Zafar receives accolade and acknowledgement

ISLAMABAD: Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar beat off competition from hundreds of government officers for bagging an award for being the most honest and accountable officer.

Zafar was handed the Integrity Idol crown at a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday.

"I feel very proud,” gushed Zafar at the ceremony, noting that the award also belonged to all the officials who were working to serve the public.



“Satisfaction comes from the serving people and the respect of every human being comes first,” he added. “This prize means everything to me because it comes from the Pakistani people. My message to young people in this country is to join the civil service and serve with honesty- you will win respect.”

Voted on by the public, other finalists in the second edition of the competition in Pakistan included Balochistan Colleges Joint Director Rubaba Hameed Durrani, IMS Peshawar Lecturer Afifa Anjum Khattak and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Finance and Accounts Director Zafar Iqbal Khan.



Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Baleeghur Rehman applauded the efforts of Integrity Idol organisers, Accountability Lab.

"Integrity Idol is a one-of-its-kind contest which will help bring transparency and integrity to the public sector and ensure good governance across our country," he said.

“These Integrity Idols are role-models for all of us.”
