A viral video allegedly showing a teenager slapping a 45-year-old Muslim man and forcing him to say "Jai Shri Ram" in India has prompted a protest from the Muslim community, reported News18.

The incident took place in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district and the three-minute video clip shows the accused, identified as Vinay Meena, slapping Mohammad Salim 25 times and forcing him to say "Jai Shri Ram." The victim in the video can be heard as responding, "Parvardigaar sabse bara hai [God is almighty]."

The video was recorded and circulated by the 18-year-old accused and has led to members of the Muslim community protesting the incident. A complaint has also been filed at the Abu Road City police station against the teenager.

“An FIR was registered yesterday based on a complaint we received from members of the Muslim community,” said Om Prakash, Superintendent of Police Sirohi, while speaking to News18.


Meena is in custody for “voluntarily causing hurt, promoting enmity, hurting religious sentiments, breaking peace,” the SP said further.
