Two 'target killers' arrested in District West

Suspects were allegedly affiliated with MQM-London

KARACHI: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested two target killers belonging to a political party in separate actions in District West.

One of the suspects was identified as Manzur Alam alias Bakar. His arrest was disclosed during a press conference by SP Abid Ali Baloch. According to the officer, the accused belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - London and was involved in various cases of targeted killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. He was arrested by the Pakistan Bazaar police.  The police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.

Another suspect allegedly affiliated with the MQM-London was arrested after an alleged exchange of fire with the Orangi Town police. According to the police officials, a patrolling police team signalled a motorcyclist to stop. The man, however, opened fire on the police and tried to flee. The police managed to arrest the suspect who was identified as Zohaib Ahmed alias WC.

The police claimed that he was involved in multiple targeted killings including those of workers of rival parties including Muhajir Qaumi Movement - Haqiqi. The police also claimed to have recovered a hand grenade, arms and ammunition from his possession.
