No end to suffering of Kashmiris

Letter February 06, 2018
The UN and other international mediators have so far failed to get the issue resolved

ISLAMABAD: The Kashmir issue remains unresolved since 1947. The two conflicting parties, that is, India and Pakistan, continue to express their hope and will to find a solution to the conflict. The issue is as old as the partition of the Indian subcontinent, however, despite numerous rounds of dialogues, backchannel and track II diplomatic initiatives, the dispute remains unresolved.

Over the years, Kashmiris have endured innumerable atrocities at the hands of the Indian occupation forces and in spite of increasing Indian atrocities they continue their struggle to seek their right of self-determination. The UN and other international mediators have so far failed to get the issue resolved. Much like the Palestinian issue, apparently, there is no solution to the Kashmir issue in sight in the near future either.
