QUETTA: At least two police personnel were critically injured early Sunday morning in a firing incident in Balochistan's Duki district.

According to initial reports, police party were patrolling the area near Mushriqi bypass when unknown assailants opened fire on their vehicle injuring at least two.

The injured have been shifted to a Quetta hospital.

Officials of the law-enforcement agencies are frequently targeted in the province.

Last year, a policeman was martyred and two others were injured when armed militants opened fire on them in Quetta.

The injured also included a five-year-old child. Policeman Ali Muhammad was martyred in the attack while two other policemen identified as Raza and Imran were injured along with the child, said police officials.

In another incident, a police superintendent and three of his security guards were gunned down.

Unidentified men on motorcycles had intercepted SP Mubarak Shah’s official vehicle near the Killi Deba area of Joint Road when he was on his way to the office and opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot and injuring three of his guards and his driver.
