Closure of street school

Letter February 03, 2018
The authorities have ordered to move the children to nearby government schools

KARACHI: The Sindh government has recently asked the street school providing free education to children in the posh vicinity of Clifton to stop working. The school alongside providing free education to these children gave them free books and a daily stipend of Rs50.

For reasons best known to the government, the authorities have ordered to move the children to nearby government schools. The move is commendable in the sense that the government has deemed it important enough that the children must receive education through its own schools, however, it needs to assure that the children continue to enjoy the same facilities as before, such as the stipend, so that they do not resort back to beggary on the roads.
