ISLAMABAD: Egypt is keen to promote trade relations with Pakistan as both countries have good potential to trade in many areas, said Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan Ahmed Fadel Yakoub. Talking to a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he said that given the size of both the economies, bilateral trade volume of around $200 million was not reflective of the actual potential and serious efforts were needed from both sides to improve it. Yakoub said that an Egyptian investor has already invested about $2 billion in a real estate project in Islamabad. Talking about the CPEC, the envoy said that it would ensure easy movement in Suez Canal and Pakistan can also get better market access to African market by developing strong cooperation with Egypt.
