Top judge takes notice of child maid’s mysterious death at K-P minister’s brother house

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of the death of a child maid, employed by brother of a serving Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) minister.

According to news reports aired by a section of the media, the young maid, employed by Shoaib Ghani, brother of K-P Minister for Higher Education Mustaq Ghani, had died mysteriously at a hospital in Abbottabad on January 25.

Taking notice of the issue, the chief justice has directed the K-P Inspector General of Police (IGP) to submit a report on the matter within three days.

Earlier today, a fact-finding committee formed to probe the matter had recommended the grave exhumation and post-mortem of the deceased.

Reportedly, health of the deceases deteriorated after eating fruits earlier this week. She later died at a hospital in Abbottabad on Thursday.

K-P IGP Salahuddin Mehsud had launched an inquiry into the incident on Sunday.

The 11-year-old victim, employed along with her elder sister at the residence of the minister's brother, had a hereditary disease which would cause her difficulty in breathing.

Her four-year-old brother also died of the same issue a month ago, while two of her siblings are still suffering from the same disease.

Provincial Minister Mustaq Ghani had offered condolence to the deceased’s family and did not object to a probe into her death. He had accused the political rivals of propaganda and mud-slinging on the issue.
