Unity of the Muslim world

Letter January 31, 2018
It is time for the country to strengthen its ties with the visionary leadership of Indonesia

SHIKARPUR: Interestingly, Joko Widodo, the president of Indonesia, has bitterly and rightly explained the problems faced by the Muslim world in general and Pakistan in particular. At the joint session of parliament during his recent visit to Pakistan, he said that democracy is the mere path to serve the people. It leads a country towards political stability and helps to achieve economic growth.

He advocates cooperation within the Muslim world in resolving basic issues, including terrorism, radicalism and instability. He has rightly said that no country can progress if it has no political stability.

As Pakistan warmly welcomed his visit, ideas and strategies, it is time for the country to strengthen its ties with the visionary leadership of Indonesia. The Muslim world should realise that unity is important to fight the evils plaguing it.
