KARACHI: The Sindh home department and the traffic police have decided to make it compulsory for motorcyclists to wear helmets as part of a collaborated awareness programme.

This was decided at a meeting called on Wednesday to monitor the city’s road safety programme. The traffic DIG said that 52.35 per cent of those killed in road accidents are motorcyclists, most of whom die from fatal head injuries.

The meeting concluded that the traffic police should be restructured like the highway police and a summary regarding this will be sent to the chief minister.
