Working women: Daycare centres being set up in Punjab

More than 102 daycare centers have been set up across the province

LAHORE: Punjab Women Development Department Hameeda Waheedud Din said that the Punjab government had taken a number of concrete steps for women empowerment as they were playing an important role in the national development. She was speaking at the inauguration of daycare center at Govt College for Women, Baghanpura, College Principal Rubina Ahmed Farooqi, Colleges DPI Zahid Mian, Women Development Director Arshad Baig, teachers and a large number of students were also present on this occasion. Hameeda said that with a view to facilitating working women, daycare centers were being set up across the province under a phased programme. She said that more than 102 daycare centers had so far been established while more such centers would be set up during current fiscal year. She said that Pakistan could not make progress without active participation of women folk. Pakistani women were very talented and have proved their abilities in different sectors of life, she added. She said that jobs quota in government sector for women had been increased from five to 15 per cent. She said that working women hostels were also being set up in various districts for the benefit of working women. She said the government had ensured socio-economic development of women by taking further steps for protection of their rights under women packages.
