ISLAMABAD: Customs officials at Benazir International Airport on Monday arrested a man who was trying to smuggle drugs worth almost Rs15 million to Sharjah, reported Express News.

The man who has been identified by customs officials as Kennedy Brian, a resident of Lahore, was carrying 1,635 grams of drugs in his shoes. The value of the drugs in the international market is believed to be Rs15 million.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation has started.

Czech woman attempting to smuggle 9kg of heroin held at Lahore airport

Earlier this month, a Czech woman was taken into custody at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore after she attempted to smuggle 9kg of heroin. She was en route to the United Arab Emirates. Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officials as well as Customs personnel took the suspect into custody after finding the contraband.

In April last year, at least 15 kilogrammes of heroin was seized from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight at Karachi airport.
