Cafes offering sheesha raided

Sale of sheesha is prohibited under Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance 2002

ISLAMABAD: Authorities on Friday raided various cafes in Bahria Town selling sheesha and arrested 13 persons. Police teams headed by a magistrate also confiscated at least 22 waterpipes and 27 pipes along with packets of flavours from two cafes.

The raids were supervised by magistrate Abdul Hadi and sub-divisional police officer Sihala as well as SHO Lohi Bher.

Officials of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICT) said sale of sheesha was prohibited under the Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance 2002. They said raids were conducted in Bahria Town in the jurisdiction of Lohi Bher police station.

Waterpipes and other equipment used in sheesha smoking were seized from at least two cafes, Frosty Terrace and Bliss Lounge.

Those arrested were taken to Lohi Bher police station for legal action.
