Cheers to the weekend: Officers have a smashing time on International Customs Day

KARACHI: International Customs Day was observed on Friday in a befitting manner at Customs House.

The day's celebration started with the hoisting of the national flag. Governor Mohammad Zubair was the chief guest and formally started the event with the flag raising ceremony, along with Customs' enforcement department's chief collector for District South, Manzoor Hussain Memon. Customs officers and jawans sang the national anthem and students of Customs Public School sang patriotic songs.

The destruction ceremony started at Customs Colony, Mauripur with a speech by the Customs preventive department collector, after which all the distinguished guests were requested to join the site of ceremony wherei smuggled goods, including liquor, beer, narcotics and gutka were destroyed and torched.
