Akram, Malik to captain in Multan Sultan exhibition match
Franchise to launch team in event on February 3 in Multan
KARACHI:
Pakistan Super League (PSL) new franchise Multan Sultans are ready to launch their team in a grand event on February 4 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
To mark the historic event called “Multan Da Muqabla”, the franchise will hold an exhibition match, where legendary fast-bowler and Sultans Director of Cricket Operations Wasim Akram and veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik will captain Sultans XI and Toofan XI respectively.
“I am coming to meet all the real sultans of Multan and to introduce you the players of Multan Sultan, so I want you all to come and support the team launch,” said Akram while talking about the event.
Former Pakistan opener Imran Nazir, who is famous for his slogging at the top of the order, will be seen in action after a gap of four years.
“I’ll be coming to Multan to see the love of cricket in Multan, I want everyone to be there to support their team Multan Sultan,” said Nazir in a video message released on franchises’ official Twitter account.
Opening batsman Ahmad Shahzad, who played an instrumental role in team’s success in the second T20I against New Zealand on Thursday, will also take part in the event.
The team will comprise of four members from Sultans squad, two celebrities, one from AMK associates, two youngsters from local clubs and one young underprivileged kid from Muslim Hands Foundation.
The launch event will also include musical performances by renowned singers like UK Sahara, Nadeem Abbas, Somewhatsuper, Waqar Ehsin and many more.
