‘Growing rift’ within PML-N

Letter January 25, 2018
It might be harder for the PML-N to bring together its seasoned politicians for the next general elections

LAHORE: Tension within the PML-N is gaining momentum with the passage of time. Following Nawaz Sharif’s ouster, news of disagreement among the top leadership of the party emerged. Recently different groups from the party staged rallies in Rawalpindi expressing their allegiance to different members of the party. As one group supported former information minister Pervaiz Rashid while the other rooted for former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, it is evident that members from the party earn support from their own groups and not from the entire party as one single political unit. Looking at the state of disarray within the party, it might be even harder for the PML-N to bring together its seasoned politicians for the next general elections.
