Irfan (35), Rabia (27) and their two minor children, four-year-old Rehan and five-year-old Nirma, were travelling on a bike near Baseen Mor when a speeding truck hit them from behind, crushing them under its wheels. The family died on the spot. The bodies to the morgue for autopsy.
The truck driver fled scene of the accident.
Police reached crime scene, collected forensic evidence and have launched an inquiry into the incident.
Three killed as van plunges into Abbottabad ditch
On January 23, at least five people were killed and 10 others, including women and children, injured during a road mishap in the outskirts of Karachi.
The casualties took place after a passenger coach collided with a truck near the Northern Bypass within the limits of the Manghopir police station late on Monday night. Ambulances of different welfare associations reached the site following the accident and shifted the bodies and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively.
